AI ad film vs traditional TVC
A traditional ad budget splits roughly 25% pre-production, 50% shoot, 25% post-production. AI production removes most of the shoot half (crew, cast, location, equipment, travel). That's why a serviceable 30-second TVC starts around ₹5 lakh while comparable AI ad films are quoted from about ₹75,000. Adding a regional actor or influencer pushes traditional costs to ₹30–50 lakh.
The second saving is versions. Once the master is approved, extra languages, aspect ratios and cutdowns cost a fraction of a new shoot. That matters a lot for performance marketing, where you want to test many hooks.
AI isn't always the right choice. If the ad depends on a real celebrity, a real location or complex live action with real people, a shoot (or a hybrid) is still better.
What drives the price
- Creative direction: a strong concept and script is where most of the value is, and where cheap options cut corners.
- Length and number of scenes: every distinct shot needs generation, selection and cleanup.
- Product accuracy: keeping a real product's shape, label and colour exact takes more work than a stylised world.
- Characters and consistency: recurring characters or clones need design and consistency work.
- Sound: professional voiceover, music licensing and sound design.
- Versions and rights: number of cutdowns, languages, and where the ad will run.
How to get more for your budget
- Brief one message and one audience per video.
- Approve the script and storyboard before production. Changes are cheapest there.
- Ask for 3 hook variations of the first 3 seconds instead of 3 separate videos.
- Plan all your aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) up front.
- Look at a studio's real portfolio, not just showreel highlights. Ask what their clients actually ran.
